Stretch Drapery

Stretch

A stretch curtain is a curtain that is installed on two rods, one located at the top of the curtain and the other located at the bottom. A Stretch curtain is often used for door windows and sidelights.

To allow for proper fullness sheer or a lightweight fabric are fabricated using 3, 3 1/2 or 4 times fullness. When specifying heavier fabrics, a stretch curtain is made with 2 1/2:1 fullness. Fabrics heavier than cotton are not recommended for use in this type of treatment.

When specifying a stretch drapery, follow these guidelines:
1. When writing the order, be sure to include ruffle and rod pocket specifications. Specify the rod you intend to use. Also specify whether the rod pocket panel is to manually open and close. If so, the curtain must be fabricated with a split in the center.
2. When measuring for a stretch, be sure to take into consideration the placement of the rod as well as the area to be covered. Always clear the glass by at least 1". It is best to use a stretch on an outside installation where measurements are not as critical. Be certain that you include in the finished length the rod take-up allowance for both rods.

Measurement Tips
• Face Width – Measured from bracket to bracket.
• Finished Length – Measure from the top rod to the bottom rod and add two times the finished ruffle.
