New Fabric Trends
January and February bring in new fabric books almost everyday. Vibrant, bold patterns are everywhere. Luscious chenilles and velvets in beautiful textured patterns perfect for any upholstery project permeate many of the collections. Leather, suede, wool and linen in beautiful colors coordinate with the large repeats that remind us of the happier times gone by.
Traditional and vintage prints reconnect us with the past and with wholesome, authentic experiences. Exotic, Eastern adventures - often described as the 'tribal' trend - inspire our thoughts toward travel and adventure in exotic destinations like Africa, India, Peru and Turkey for inspiration in pattern. Pantone says it is to "satisfy consumers' need to escape everyday challenges with intriguing color combinations that transport them to foreign lands."An exciting mix of these two trends: tribal influences blurring traditional damask with the introduction of 'ikat' motifs. Many new collections include Ikat patterns - see them here.>>
Botanicals - there's a strong return to plant imagery, classic florals, water and bird imagery, mostly drawn by hand, so that they become less fussy images than in the past and more artistic. Also coming through strongly are owls, peacocks and birds in antique cages, butterflies, dragonflies, insects and fish.

Terrariums are making a comeback as they create a beautiful display for plants and nature. A terrarium is an open, transparent container for growing and displaying plants. When properly planted and located, they provide a novel way to grow many plants with minimal care.
