| Flat Fold Roman Shade The Roman Fold Shade folds against the window and is drawn up with horizontal pleats spaced 5" to 6" apart. The Roman Fold Shade has a crisp contemporary look and works best with fabrics that have some body. Lining is recommended. Rings are sewn on the back of the shade horizontally every 8" to 10" and vertically every 5" to 6" equidistant across the shade to fit the finished size. The shade is drawn up with nylon cord threaded through the rings, across the back of the head-rail. The Roman Fold shade dos not have a return as part of the shade face. If specifying this shade on a window where the side of the board will be showing, the use of a short flap falling vertically from the board creates a concealed return. Fabric shades can have a continuous cord system to raise and lower the shade at various heights. This system is typically an add-on to the cost of fabricating the shade.
