Calculating Drapery Weight
Source: Kirsch Curtain Rod Guide

Fabric weight affects how a drapery hangs, how it stacks, and which rod and hardware you'll need. Use this chart as a quick reference when specifying linings and face fabrics. Most drapery linings fall in the 2–4 oz range; heavier linings and face fabrics require sturdier support.
| Fabric Type | Weight per Square Yard |
|---|---|
| Linings & Interlinings | |
| Drapery Lining | 2–4 oz |
| Interlining | 5–6 oz |
| Blackout Lining | 6–10 oz |
| Bump Lining | 12–14 oz |
| Face Fabrics | |
| Silks | 2–4 oz |
| Chintz | 2–4 oz |
| Printed Cottons | 4–6 oz |
| Linens | 6–10 oz |
| Jacquards | 10–14 oz |
| Velvets | 14–18 oz |
Weights are approximate and may vary by manufacturer. Always confirm with your workroom or fabric supplier.
